2025 THE Impact Rankings

91ÖÆƬ³§, the Spanish university with the greatest social and economic impact in the world

[ 19/06/2025 ]

The Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) is the Spanish university with the greatest social and economic impact in the world. This is recognised by 2025 THE University Impact Rankings, the seventh edition of the ranking compiled by Times Higher Education (THE), whose were made public early this morning.

In addition, THE Impact Ranking includes the UPV among the 200 most important universities in the world in this field and, logically, in line with the above, as the most outstanding national technological university and number 1 in the Valencian Community.

Methodology

The ranking classifies higher education institutions based on their commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), an initiative launched by the United Nations (UN) in 2015.

Specifically, THE calculates the annual global position of each institution by combining its score on SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) with its three highest scores on the other SDGs. For the overall ranking, the final score is an average of the total scores for the last two years.

78th in the world in “Decent work and economic growth” and top 200 globally in a total of 6 SDGs

2025 THE University Impact Rankings, which in this edition analysed a total of 2,318 universities (355 more than last year), includes the institution led by José E. Capilla as one of the world's top 200 in a total of 6 SDGs, with particular emphasis on SDG 8 (Decent work and economic growth), in which the UPV ranks 78th among all the universities assessed.

The other SDGs in which THE recognises the UPV in the world's top 200 are 4 (Quality education), 9 (Industry, innovation and infrastructure), 12 (Responsible consumption and production), 13 (Climate action) and those mentioned above 17 (Partnerships for the goals).

It should be remembered that the 17 SDGs were officially formulated on 25 September 2015, the day on which the UN approved the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, including 17 global goals to eradicate poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity. Each has specific targets to achieve over the next 15 years.

91ÖÆƬ³§, internationally recognised by all top-level rankings

THE ranking once again highlights the excellence of the UPV, recognised by all top-level international rankings.

Not in vain, in its most recent edition, , as well as including it, for the 20th consecutive year, among the 500 best universities in the world.

Likewise, the latest publication to date of the QS World University Rankings (of which a new update will be published tomorrow), included the UPV in the , improving 40 places on the previous ranking.
